Market Research

Research Problems

The following are problem statements identified for the Student Outreach Clinic:

  1. Why is the Student Outreach Clinic not popularly known by students and those in need in the community?

  1. Have those who have received services from the clinic had poor experiences and thus have not recommended the resource to others?

I will complete a primary data collection method and interview 3-6 potential customers with a survey instrument of questions.

Research Instrument

I will complete an interview guide.

  1. What do you know about the Student Outreach Clinic?

  2. What marketing have you seen for the clinic around the campus center and other IU affiliated buildings, or any building not associated with IU?

  3. What services do you find beneficial, or that you may take advantage of, that the clinic offers?

  4. What services do you think the community needs, from your experience?

  5. From your knowledge, is there another clinic that is offering similar services in our community? If so, what have you observed/experienced?

  6. How do you most prefer to consume marketing? Give an example.

Findings

From the market research conducted on student around the IUI campus, all participants were aware of the Student Outreach Clinics existence, although few knew of its purpose and the services the clinic offers. They all shared a general concern for the access to free health care and preventative service available to the community.

When asking the student how they prefer to consume marketing, a broad spectrum of preferences were shared. Some simply preferred flyers in common spaces around campus, some preferred QR codes and referable websites, and others shared interest in marketing advertisements on social media and relating social media pages.

From my interviews, it is understood that there is a need for more education and marketing for the Student Outreach Clinic so that more know about their services and can share with others if they are able to refer someone to the resource.  More marketing needs to be around IUI, in all types of buildings (campus center, campus housing, lecture halls, the library, common building downtown, CVS, Walgreens, etc.).

Thank you for taking the time to discover and explore this marketing plan!
